Only once every ten years, six uniquely talented wizards are chosen for the trials.

The chosen six are Libby and Nico who exercise incredible control over matter, Reyna, a physicist who understands the language of nature, Parisa, a telepath, who seduces to read the minds of others, Calum, a manipulator, with paraesthesias actions that turn anyone he wants into a docile creature, and Tristan who recognizes spells and illusions.

When the candidates are recruited by the mysterious Atlas Blakely, they learn that they will have one year to make the final selection.
